Hurricane Harvey Survivor!

Austin was only seven months old when Hurricane Harvey hit Texas.

He boarded The Rescue Train in November, with 62 other survivors and airlifted to Los Angeles. He arrived emaciated with treatable medical conditions and post-traumatic stress. After several months of TLC in a foster home, hes happy, healthy and homeward bound!

Austin is a Labrador/Vizsla/Hound mix, 14 months old and

weighing in at 55lbs. Hes got super model eyes the color of a sunset and the softest fur in town!

He is an exuberant pup, yet has sweetness to his soul. He would do best in a mellow environment that still allows him to be active.

Austin can be goofy when he plays and its hilarious to watch him. He loves to run and throw his toys in the yard and for that reason he would not be a good apartment dog. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body but because of his strength and enthusiasm, we do not want to place him in a home with small dogs or small children. If he were to live with another dog, it should be a calm dog his size.

Our dog trainer thinks Austin has a wonderful temperament and is going to be fabulous dog! Whoever adopts Austin, needs to be committed to providing him with structure for the first couple of months so he can settle in. He would do best with an experienced large breed dog owner. Like all young dogs, he would benefit from continued training. We have crated trained him so that will help this process for an adopter.
